“REMINDER: Heinz von Foersters Operatives Denken”
This workshop is dedicated to the challenge of finding an alternative to the codification of value systems pursued by Artificial Intelligence methods by means of the system of thought of second-order cybernetics. In particular, second-order cybernetics offers a counter-position to the deterministic, mechanical, representational, and predictable interpretive architecture of Artificial Intelligence, in which any acquired knowledge is subject to the computability of algorithms. However, cybernetic epistemology offers a way of thinking embedded in dynamics, relations, ties, and connections that respects differences and distinctions as well as integrating uncertainties and unpredictabilities. The aim of the workshop is to present an operational model of thinking and to outline philosophical, aesthetic and social consequences.
